BLOWFISH

What kind of fish can a balloon artist make?
A blowfish.

Blowfish is prickly, often poisonous fish that are capable of puffing up by swallowing water or air. They are also called  swellfish. We saw them in the movie, Nemo, and then admired the live ones at Monterey Bay Aquarium. Lets draw one now.
  • Write a big O.
  • At the right side of O write a U. Then write another U starting from the middle of the first U and then touching O. They are the fins.

  • Oops!! I missed drawing the eyes in my third step. They are two os with a dot in them.
  • Now the nose and the smile.Write two small u equal spaced from the edges of the big O. Join the middle of both these u with another very flat u.
  • Write an I for the nose. Write 111 inside each fin.
  • Write two small m near the eyes for the side fins, Cover the blowfish with prickles by writing a lot of small vs.
 The Blowfish is ready!!
 Swell!!

CRAB 1

What do you call a crab when it is in a bad mood?
Crabby :-).

Crab is omnivorous in nature and feeds on a diet comprising of algae, mollusks, worms, other crustaceans, fungi and bacteria ,etc. Crabs usually inhabit brackish water i.e. a mix of fresh and saline water. Something interesting, the teeth of a crab are in its stomach and after losing its claw, a crab can grow it back. Lets draw now.

  • Start by writing a flat O, more like an oval. This makes the body of crab.
  • Fill this O with a couple of more Os and few C to touch the body.
  • Now to make the feet and the claws, we write  four J on each side. Please note the direction J is written on each side. This is a little tricky. If you have difficulty then just think of it as very flat C for the feet and half U on each side for the claws.

  • Join the edge of J and O with I to make a foot. Do this for all feet.
  • Write another set of half U for the claws.
  • Put two dots for eyes.
  • Write small Us on top of each claw.

  • Write 3 touching edge of each U. Oops!! I forgot few Os inside the body in this picture. I hope you will forgive my mistake.
  • Join the other edge of U and the middle of number 3 with a small C . Do this for both.
  • Color and enjoy your crab.
How much does a crab eat?
Just a pinch! :-)

CRAB 2

Crabs are decapods (ten legs) crustaceans (their skeleton is on the outside) and arthropods (they have segmented legs).
I was going to bring the crab out to introduce you before we drew him, but he was being shy.  I had a talk with him, but it is tough to get him out of his shell. Finally he consented. So here we go.

  • Start with a flat O (oval) for body.Write a couple of Os and Cs inside it.
  • For the claws we write two small C, and then another set of C inside the first one.
  • To draw feet, we write four J on one side of the body and four J on the other side of body.
  • Put two dots for eyes.
  •  Finish claws with number3.
  • Join J and body with I to make feet.

  • This crab is ready now.

Let me know if this crabs wont share the color pencils with you.
They have been known to be a little shellfish :-).

SEA HORSE

What kind of horse can swim underwater without coming up for air?
A seahorse!

Seahorses are fish. They are bony , they do not have scales, but rather a thin skin stretched over a series of bony plates arranged in rings throughout their body. Each species has a distinct number of rings. Seahorses swim upright. Seahorses have a coronet on their head, which is distinct to each individual, much like a human fingerprint.
This is the only species in animal kingdom in which father carries the baby. Lets draw a seahorse now. It has more alphabets , but after all they are alphabets.

  • Start by writing S.
  • Wrte U as shown in the second figure.
  • Write I a the tip of S and the free tip of U. Join the free tips of I wih number 3.

  • Write C at the lower free edge of S.
  • Write small O for eye.
  • Write another smal O for crown.Join it to head with 11.
  • Write a big U staring at the middle of the small U we wrote for face and ending at the end of big S of body.
  • Join the free end of big U to end of C with upside down U.
  • Write Vs to make riges of this sea horse.
  • Make fin by writing another V as shown.
  • Finish bod by writing a turned around C. You can color your seahorse any way you like...polka dots, stripes, etc etc.

What kind of horse will never drop a carriage in water?

OCTOPUS

What makes an octopus a good fighter?
He's very well armed :-).

An octopus looks like a large domed head sitting on top of an array of swirling arms. Actually this "head" is called the mantle or body and contains all of the octopus's vital organs - including three hearts. The majority of the octopus's nervous system is located in its arms and these are highly flexible and amazingly strong. Each arm has two identical rows of suction cups which not only grab and hold prey, but determine the texture, shape and even taste of the item the octopus is touching. An octopus can regrow arms it has lost.

  • Write a big upside down U.
  • Write eight S for arms.

  • Write similar S alongside the first one joining the ends at tip.
  • Put dots for eyes if you want to animate it . Write U for smile.
Octopus is ready.

What did the octopus say to his date?
I want to hold your hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand, hand :-).

JELLY FISH

What does a jelly fish have on its tummy?
A jelly button :-).

Jellyfish don’t have any brain, heart, or bones. A group of jellyfish is called a 'smack'. Jellyfish feed on small protozoa, large metazoa and other small fish in the sea. They generally trap these in their tentacles. Some jellyfish do not have tentacles at all. They swim by contracting and expanding their bodies. They do not have scales or shells. If exposed to the hot sun, they disappear, leaving only a circle of film.
Is that not most interesting.

  • Write upside down U and join tips with bent I.

  • Write a number of S . Elongate some.
  • Write exactly same S beside each first one joing their end tips
Here is a smack of jelly fish.

What kind of kind of fish goes well with peanut butter?
Jellyfish :-).

FISH- CLOWN FISH

Do fish ever have holidays?
No-They are always in schools :-).

A group of fish is called school. Now lets talk about clown fish; remember ,"Nemo."
Clown fishes get their name because of their stripes and their bouncing movements, which make them look like clowns! Apart from the orange and white color, clown fishes are also found in black and white color. Their body is black in color and the stripes are white. These are called Ocellaris clown fishes. All clown fish are born males. But when a female dies, the most dominant clown fish changes itself into a female!
Lets draw this amazing clown fish now.

  • Start by making a loop with small L or small E.
  • Write number3 for mouth, fin and tail.
  • Write 7 for remaining three fins.
  • Write O for eye. Write a smaller O inside this big one.
  • Now write a small U for the body fin. Writea series of bent I to make face and stripes.

Color and we are ready .

What kind of money do fishermen make?
Net profits! :-)

FISH 1

What is the best way to catch a fish?
Have someone throw one to you. :-)

All fish live in water, have fins and scales and most of them breathe with their gills. All fish have back bone.Fishes come in an amazing variety of shapes and colors. Fish were well established long before
dinosaurs roamed the earth. Lets draw one of the simple ones.

  • Start by writing a cursive E or small L to make body of fish. You can think of it as a loop.
  • Write C to make face.
  • Finish tail with V.

  • Write series of U for scales. Put dot for eye.
  • Write number 7 for making fins and C for smile.

Swim fish, swim.
Why is a fish easy to weigh?
Because it has its own scales! :-).

FISH 2

Why do fish swim in salt water?
Because peper would make them sneeze. :-)

Fish are cold-blooded, which means their internal body temperature changes as the surrounding temperature changes. Did you know fishes cannot live in the Dead Sea though because the water has too much salt in it? We will draw another fish now.

  • Start by making a loop with small L or big eye small E.
  • Write O for eye.
  • Write U for mouth.

  • Write C to make face; and write C to finish tail.
  • Write 7 on either side for fin. Also write a small V for third fin.
We are done!!
Some more fish facts now.
Fish sleep with their eyes open!
A baby fish is called a "fry."

As usual I have to end this lesson with humor :-)
If fish lived on land, in which country would they live?
Finland. :-).

ANGEL FISH

ANGEL FISH
Do you know which fish go to heaven after they die???

Angel fish ,of course :-).

Angelfish are a freshwater fish that are frequently striped longitudinally with a coloration which provides additional camouflage.  We saw them at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and they really are beautiful.

Now lets learn to draw Angel fish in  easy steps.

  • First draw slant letter V followed by another letter V.
  • Now draw a very flat C or slightly bent I to join ends of letter V as displayed in the picture.
    • Then  put a dot for an eye.
    • Color in yellow and brown.
I have used crayola color pencils here. The real picture is better than the scanned one :-). Angel fish is now ready.
