SNAIL

How do snails fight?
They slug it out until one wins.

Snails are found in almost everyone’s garden. They are herbivorous and will eat almost anything in the plant and flower family, no wonder we find holes in leaves where the snail live. Beneath their tiny shell and in that slimy body they have a tiny heart, a digestive system, a kidney, a lung, a stomach and even a tiny brain. Lets draw this little creature now.

  • Write a small O; ten instead of ending it go round and round till you are satisfied with the size of shell you want for your snail.
  • Write C for face.
  • Join edges of C  to shell with 11. Make tail with V.

  • Make antennas by writing two Osand joining them to the face with Is. Put a dot for eye.
I made my snail a friend!!One would be lonely.
What do you call a snail on a ship?
A snailor! :-).

LADYBIRD 1

What do you call a bird that is a female?
A lady bird :-)
Lady birds are not birds. As you must alraedy know they are insects. In fact, they are generally considered useful insects as many species feed on aphids or scale insects, which are pests in gardens, agricultural fields, orchards. They are one of the prettiest insects around, my personal favorite.
  • Start by writing O for face and upside down U for body.
  • Write two small Os as shown. Join them with head with two Is.
  • Make neck with number 11.
  • Join U of body with I.

  • Make eyes with dots and smile with U.

  • Make dots with Os, Us and Cs.  Color.
Why can't a ladybird hide?
Because they're always spotted! :-).

LADYBIRD 2

Which fly captured the ladybird?
The dragon-fly :-).

Some more facts. Ladybirds are beetles and so possess two characteristics that distinguish them from insects of other orders. They are hard forewings that cover the abdomen and meet centrally plus a
biting mouthparts.

  • Start by writing O and two small O on either side of O.
  • Write T inside big O.
  • Join small O to body with I. Make eyes with dots.
  • Make dots with Os, Cs and Us.
Color this pretty insect.

Which insect could go to dance?
A ladybird , because it was wearing a pretty red dress :-).

FIREFLY

How do fireflies start a race?
Ready steady glow! :-)

Fireflies are enigmatic!! enchanting!! and endangered!! It is almost magical to walk through a meadow during a cool summer evening and watching fireflies intermittently light up the night.
Firefly lights are the most efficient lights in the world—100% of the energy is emitted as light. Because it produces no heat, scientists refer to firefly lights as “cold lights.”
Lets draw a firefly now. It is a cartoon firefly. Ready steady glow..oops, I meant draw.

  • Start by writing big O for face. Write two little Os inside for eyes and two small O outside as shown.
  • Put dots inside eye for it to see.
  • Join the glow pods with I to head.
  • Write horizontal I to start making mouth.
  • Write a big U for body and a small U for mouth.

  • Write three 11s; one each side for arms and  one for feet.
  • Finish arms by writing Ls and finish feet by writing C, the joining it with I.
  • To make wings we write Ws. If you have difficulty making rounded edge W think of it as Us together.

Color as you want . My suggestion is at least the glow buds should be yellow!!
Do you know what goes "snap, crackle and pop"?
A firefly with a short circuit! :-)

BUTTERFLY2

BUTTERFLY2

Butterflies are among the most colorful and beautiful insects. They flutter from flower to flower, sometimes pausing to eat nectar or rest their wings. As they span out, their colors are on display for everyone to see. Butterflies are beautiful.

By the way , did you know why Johnny threw butter out of his window?
Because he wanted to see the butter fly.
Time to draw another butterfly. The real one though :-). It is very similar to the first one. Only the wings are different.

  • Write a long narrow U.
  • Write an o for the head.
  • Mark the upper side of U with three equally spaced dots.

  • Join the first two dots with upside down U. That makes the first wing.
  • From the middle of first wring write another upside down U touching the third dot.

  • For the antennas, this time we write two small Os and join them with tilted Is.
  • Write Us inside each wing again.
  • Color, and the butterfly is ready. I have drawn two here as we all need friends to play with.
I hope Johnny now knows what a butterfly is :-).

BUTTERFLY3

What do a moth, a butterfly and a fish have in common?

Scales!

Everyone knows that fish have scales. But, what about moths and butterflies? Did you know that the powder-like substance on the wings of moths and butterflies is actually tiny layers of scales. These layers of scales help give butterflies and moths their beautiful color. They also give out a special smell for mating.
Lets draw now.

  •  Start with a small o.
  • Write a really long U for the body.
  • Mark both sides of U with three equally spaced dots.
  • Write a  M on top joining the first two dots and a W on the other side joining the first two dots. You can also think of it as the number 3 with the edges of 3 stretched to join the first two dots.
  • Join the second and third dots with U on each side.
  • For the antennas we write two small os.
  •  Join the os with tilted Is to the top of the head, Put two dots for eyes.
  • You can also make wings on one side only.
Fly butterfly fly !!
By the way, where do butterflies go to read books?
At branch libraries! :-).

BUTTERFLY 1

BUTTERFLY1
Why did the butterfly not go to dance?
Because it was a Moth Ball :-).
Never mind we will make our own little butterflies dance. They are one of the most delicate and most beautiful creations. The Science Museum of San Francisco has a beautiful collection of butterflies. You can stay there for hours together.
  • Start with a long narrow U.
  • Write a small o for the head.
  • Mark three equally spaced dots on upper side of U.

  • Write M,  with the ends of M touching the first two dots in U. You can also think of it as a 3 with its ends pulled to join the first two dots of U.
  • Write another slanted U for the second wing.
  • Join its ends to the second and third dot in U.
  • Write two more Us inside each wing. Put a dot for eye.

  • Antennas are two 9s.
Fly little butterflies, fly!! The butterflies are ready to dance . I have drawn two together. After all we all need a dancing partner :-).
